Murder…?

Murder.  In the United States, approximately seventeen thousand people are murdered each year.  However, when the United States’ officials estimated that total, they left out the nearly two million children who are murdered by their mothers each year.  Though these statistics seem very scary, most people in this country accept this practice more commonly known as abortion.  In some situations, abortion is the only logical option, such as cases of rape, where the girl will die if she delivers the child.  But, almost ninety-three percent of abortions are done because of social reasons like the child is unwanted or inconvenient.  When used as birth control, abortions are wrong.  This practice harms the mother just as much as the child she has murdered.

Abortion is against the Bible.  The words “with child” are mentioned twenty-six times in the Bible, and not once does the statement “with fetus” or “with a blob of tissue” come into the picture.  That is because, although the child is not fully formed, the child is real and is growing.  Proverbs 6:16-17 says, “There are six things in which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to him, haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”  What do the children living inside of their mother’s do that is so wrong?  The answer is nothing.  These children have done nothing wrong or harmful, and therefore do not deserve the death punishment.  The golden rule, which is stated throughout the whole Bible, says “treat others the same way you would want them to treat you.”  Also, by legalizing abortion in all circumstances, people are more likely to do wrong actions such as commit adultery, because they can rid themselves of a baby incase of an accident.

Abortions are performed in some of the most immoral and gruesome ways possible.  In the United States, abortion surgery can be done four ways.  The suction type abortion is done by literally vacuuming the child out of the mother’s womb.  Another two types of abortion are both similar in that the child is cut out of the mother’s womb.  In one, the child is cut out with a spoon like object.  With the other, the child is cut out and allowed to suffocate because the lungs of the child are not fully developed and cannot obtain oxygen.  The Salt Brine technique is one of the most inhumane.  Injected with a strong salt solution, the child is literally “pickled,” meaning that the moisture is sucked out, and then the child is born dead.  Some United States citizens want partial-birth abortions to be legalized.  This surgery requires the child being born, then stabbed in the skull, and the brains of the innocent child are sucked out.  All of these methods, legal and not, are very immoral.  The child is cruelly murdered, and the mother is allowed to walk away with no legal action taken towards her (Melton, 1996).

Riley! Like I said earlier, I cannot believe that you were able to write this without freaking out!…I agree that abortion should not, under any circumstances, be used for birth control! When that action is taken, the person is completely moral wrong. They need to learn to realize that the actions the make have consequences that they will have to deal with, and that they should deal with because when they made the decision to put themselves in that position, they should have thought about the future instead of just the present. (but omg! ‘PICKLED!’ scary!)….

Wow! Riley, I had never heard half that stuff you had on here. All those methods made me want to throw up. I agree with what kirbi commented. People just need to face up to the problems they create. Like you said about the golden rule, who in their right mind would want to be pickled??? That is so crazy. Plus, people cannot say a baby is inconvenient because their mother could have said the same thing about them. Every girl should know from the beginning that there will always be a chance they could get pregnant. I am totally with you in that the bible says abortion is completely wrong!!!! By the way, two million babies?? That is a huge number!

    Hey Riley!
Wow…Do I really need to say anymore? This is just crazy! I agree with you all the way about abortion not being a birth control. Abortion is such controversial topic. Even though the child is still unborn and isn’t in this psychotic world yet, does not mean that killing the child is right. Like you said, the child did not do anything wrong. If the mother did not want the baby, she could have at least tried a little harder to prevent herself from becoming pregnant. Unless, like you said, she was raped and will die if she gives birth to the child. This is just scary.

Riley, im glad that you wrote this and i hope that any mother that is toying with the decision of abortion will read this. Abortion is totally inhumane and digusting. I do not know how any medical professional can mindlessly kill an inocent pure baby. The girl that was raped and will die if she gives birth has one of the hardest decisions to make and that decision would really test my faith.

Riley. I still can not believe you managed to write about this because of the gruesome processes. I agree that a child should not be killed because a girl made a mistake. I can understand when the girl has been raped and might die, but otherwise there should be no abortion. The way abortion is performed is very disturbing. The statistics are very surprising, I did not know that abortion was that common.

Wow… That is pretty crazy, especially the part about partial-birth abortions. That sounds exactly like murder. I do agree with what you have said and i hope that abortion will not become legalized.

  7. Meredith Said:

Ok so I am going to start by just saying that abortion is wrong. If the mother of the baby is raped or life is threated by giving birth, an abortion might be understandable. Otherwise, abortions should not take place. If a woman is going to have sex and not protect herself from getting pregnant, then she should deal with the consequences of child birth. If a woman doesn’t want her baby, she should put it up for adoption. An adopted baby would probably have a much better life than a baby who was being raised my a person who didn’t want him. Abortion is murder. A baby inside of a mother’s womb has already started developing, and taking away his life is murder! So Riley, I do agree with you.

  8. ward Said:

I know everyone has already said this, but once again im suprised you could write this! I agree with you though! Abortion is killing a soon to be person so it is murder. Its so sad what they are doing. I hope that more people become aware of this issue and decide not to have an abortion.

  9. Michelle Said:

I agree that abortion is wrong. In all cases. A majority of the posts here also agree that it is ok for a woman to have an abortion if she is in danger. Is this really fair? How can one choose to kill an innocent baby who never had a chance to live. It’s not his fault his mother was raped. All I see is that if a child can get kicked out of school for threatening one of his peers, shouldn’t it be illegal to rip the head off of a baby? Think of a baby crying due to a gassy stomach…now think of him getting dismembered as his small nerves are beginning to develop.

  10. Mrs. Gillmore Said:

In your paper, did you acknowledge when an abortion might be okay?

Is there ever an instance when one might take this route to escape further negative consequences?

  11. rileyd Said:

Mrs.Gillmore, I did say in the beginning of this that, “In some situations, abortion is the only logical option, such rape, where the girl will die if she delivers the child.” Michelle, I do agree that abortion should not be done in most circumstances, but I do think that the only situation is if a young girl is raped and she and her child will both die if she delivers, because in that one and only instance two innocent lives are taken by a rapist instead of one…

  12. Danielle Said:

Wow! I didn’t know how inhuman abortion could be. I knew it was used a lot because of unwanted pregnancies, but I’ve never supported it. When women get pregnant, they should take the responsiblity and raise their child instead of taking the easy way out. There are very few circumstances when abortion should be used, as you mentioned in your blog. All babies want to be borned!

  13. Michelle Said:

I agree with what Grace said about rape and how hard it would be to make a decision like that. I think that if my baby would die and I would too, I wouldn’t be selfish to kill the baby if I’m supposed to die. I would just leave it in the hands of God. If he thinks that’s the way I was supposed to die, then so be it. If he thinks I shouldn’t then he will work his ways to let me live. Besides, having an abortion would scar me forever. I would feel incredibly guilty of killing an innocent creature. In this case, I would reather die and not kill him than him not ever having a chance to fight for his life and maybe live.

  14. Riley Said:

Michelle:)…I love you so much, and your unselfishness…There needs to be more people like you in the world that are willing to sacrifice..I understand your point, but I do think that people should be given the option to get an abortion if they are going to die, but whether they take that chance is up to them…
